Program and Curriculum

APP offers five levels of instruction in the areas of Reading and Writing, with each class focusing on English for academic success (including Grammar, Study Skills, and Listening/Speaking practice). All levels have 2 classes a day, divided into four blocks, for 5 hours of instruction per day. Classes are from Sunday – Wednesday. Thursday is reserved for exams. Each term in APP runs for 11 weeks, every fall, spring, and summer. Grades are important to students, but they are not the primary measure of their mastery of English. Daily class work, oral participation, attendance, writing exercises, university-sponsored lectures, workshops, and extracurricular activities all contribute to the development of students’ English abilities.

Beyond the Classroom

APP is an intensive program where daily interactions between teachers and students help build strong relationships that extend outside of the classroom. Students work with each other and faculty to run charity drives, organize athletic competitions, participate in theatre, and take part in a multitude of other university clubs.
