APP Student Resources

Daily after-school writing, reading, and speaking/listening labs offer students one-on-one instruction from faculty members and peer tutors. Students on academic probation are assigned individual tutors and are required to attend these special sessions for extra help. The newest addition to supplementary instruction is a fully equipped Language Lab which contains grammar and reading tutoring and practice at multiple levels of difficulty.

Academic Counseling

APP offers struggling students many different opportunities to receive support. All APP teachers hold at least 2 hours of office hours per week. During this time, students can meet with their individual teachers and ask questions about information that has been presented in class that week/semester. Students also use these office hours to talk to teachers about personal issues. Apart from office hours, APP students can get support from experienced tutors. Our APP tutors are undergraduate students who have been carefully screened and selected based on their own APP experience. Each level has at least two tutors that can be reached by students either online or on campus for extra academic support. Scheduled tutoring sessions can happen on campus in B F2-37a. Students can find tutors contact details on the APP students moodle page or from the APP Administrative Manager.

Online Resources

The APP Labs provide online language-learning opportunities for students. Here, students can find activities for reading, writing, grammar, and listening and speaking practice online. The labs are located in B-B1-09 and B-B1-03.

The labs are open every day for APP students. At times they are reserved by teachers for classwork.  IT help can be found at the IT front desk at the building’s entrance. There are a total of 25 computers available for student remediation and practice and this number determines the number of students that may attend at any one time.

The meritonlinelearning.com software is loaded onto the computers in order for students to practice reading and listening skills. Also available are texts and writing prompts through the StudySync program, Quizlet  practices, and the below online resources:
