American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) prepares its students and graduates for success and leadership in a rapidly changing and global world. AUIS has an alumni network of over 1900 graduates, most of whom work all over Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. An AUIS education makes our alumni competitive candidates for employment opportunities in international relief organizations, multinational corporations, and local companies and businesses. AUIS graduates work primarily in the private sector - an exception in a region where public sector employment still dominates career paths. According to a 2022 survey, 85 percent of AUIS’s undergraduate alumni are employed or pursuing advanced degrees at prestigious universities in the United States and Europe.
Our graduates are a distinct point of pride for the entire AUIS community and we strive to maintain a lifelong relationship with our alumni. In 2012, our alumni established an Alumni Association, which is involved in inviting alumni to lectures, events, and meetings of interest at the University; hosting alumni-specific events, including networking socials, reunions, and trips; incorporating alumni into university traditions and making them a more vocal and active part of the AUIS community; sharing professional opportunities via the Career Services Office; and bringing alumni back to campus to share experiences and career advice with current students.

AUIS Alumni Association
The AUIS Alumni Association is a membership organization that complements and supports the mission of the University. It is designed to celebrate alumni as valuable members of the AUIS community and is dedicated to connecting AUIS alumni to the University community; to supporting and nurturing students even after they graduate; and to creating an AUIS network that spans Iraq and the world. Alumni are an important bridge between current students and the professional world and between AUIS and the wider community. The AUIS Alumni Association strives to foster the connection between the University and its alumni and to promote, influence and support the educational, cultural and social life of the University and provide graduates with the means to guide the University into the future.
Alumni Constitution
In December 2014, the AUIS Alumni Association ratified a constitution to give graduates a formal mechanism for giving back to the AUIS community. The Alumni Constitution provides a sustainable structure that gives ownership of the association to the alumni and their elected representatives.
