English as a Second Language (ESL)

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program at PDI provides a great chance to learn and improve your English language skills. The program provides comprehensive exposure to the four important elements of English language instruction: writing (and grammar), reading, speaking, and listening. PDI also provides organizations with customized ESL courses to cater to their staff training and development needs. PDI´s ESL program curriculum follows an internationally recognized framework for language development and assessment. The program comprises of twelve (12) levels, from Introductory Basic to Advanced Proficiency. All students are matched to their specific skill level through individual placement testing. Whether you are preparing for the TOEFL exam, want to advance professionally or simply want to enhance your English language capabilities, PDI will provides you the means to achieve your goals.

All PDI instructors are native-English speakers, who have a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree with international work experience.

Placement Test

Prior to enrollment, all students are required to take an English Placement exam. 
Based on the results of this exam, students will be assigned a class that best matches their current level of English comprehension.

English Academic Writing

This purpose of this course is to improve English writing skills for a professional or academic future. The students will be prepared to write well in their career or academic programs. In this course, participants will start with a strong foundation by mastering the grammatical structure needed to form perfect sentences. They will build on this foundation by learning how to write well-organized essays, and even research papers.

Business English

This course is a comprehensive advanced business English course which focuses on enabling participants to communicate more effectively in business and work settings recognizing that the modern business world is truly international. 
The program addresses the language and communication needs at all organizational levels with special emphasis on verbal and written professional communication via email, reports, formal and informal meetings, and negotiations. This course takes a communicative approach allowing original verbal and written practice. Vocabulary, grammar, phrases, and case studies are presented in realistic context.

Advanced English Conversation

This course is designed for students with higher-level English skills who want to improve their spoken English. Focused solely on speaking, the course will help students learn to speak in English for an extended period of time with ease. Activities will include guided conversations, discussion groups, debates, and presentations. Students’ pronunciation, fluency, and grammatical accuracy will be monitored throughout the program.

TOEFL iBT and IELTS Preparation

PDI’s TOEFL & IELTS preparation course give students all the skills they need to succeed in achieving the desired scores. These preparation courses are specially designed for upper intermediate and advanced English speakers who need to practice key test taking strategies, with emphasis on the four core skills tested by the exam: speaking, listening, reading and writing. 
Students who plan to seek admission to English language universities will find both courses particularly useful. Experienced native English-speaking TOEFL and IELTS instructors will provide expert instruction and individual support to help students to achieve the highest possible TOEFL and IELTS scores.
