The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani hosted an important seminar titled "Building Effective Support Systems on College Campuses" on May 7, 2025. The event, designed and run by the C.A.R.E.S. team,  featured five distinguished panel speakers, including Dr. Lynn Rose, Dr. Loren O'Connor, Dr. Thierry Kolpin, Dr. Koyar Sherko, and Ms. Panagiotta Magga, all experts in various aspects of disability services and mental health support in academic settings. 

As part of their ongoing engagement with global political affairs, students at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) attended a special online learning session titled “The European Union and Its Challenges in the 21st Century” on 7 May 2025. The session featured guest speaker Dr. Simant Shankar Bharti, Assistant Professor at the School of Social Sciences, University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw, and author of The European Union's Role in South Asia: Development Policy and Soft Power (Routledge, 2025).  

On May 6, 2025, American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), through the AUIS Institute for Korean Studies in the Middle East, hosted a high-level academic conference titled “Korea–Kurdistan Dialogue: Development and Scholarship Opportunities”.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was pleased to host representatives from Pioneer Pharmaceuticals for a meaningful exchange on potential areas of collaboration.

The visit explored ways to strengthen the connection between academic preparation and industry needs, with a focus on how AUIS can continue supporting students as they prepare for the job market. Discussions highlighted AUIS’s commitment to producing graduates who are well-equipped to contribute effectively in professional environments.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) recently hosted a heartwarming gathering as alumni from across the years came together for the Alumni Spring Fair—a joyful reunion that celebrated shared memories, enduring friendships, and personal and professional achievements.

The event was made even more memorable by the inspiring presence of Dr. Barham Salih, founder of AUIS and a steadfast advocate for higher education in the region. Dr. Salih’s attendance served as a powerful reminder of the University’s mission and the lasting impact it has had on its graduates.

In a dynamic and interactive session, students at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) participated in a European Council simulation as part of their European Union studies. This hands-on exercise, led by faculty member Dr. Shwan Azeez, Assistant Professor, was conducted based on the official agenda format of the European Council, 20 March 2025, offering students a realistic experience of how European Union diplomacy functions. 

Dr. Lynn Rose, Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, and Mr. Shko Shwan Fuad, Instructor in the Department of Computing and Informatics at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), are proud to announce the publication of their latest academic contribution in the edited volume Narrative Universes of Disability: Global Perspectives (Springer).

The AUIS Moulakis Library proudly celebrated the arrival of a major new collection of books through the READ JAPAN PROJECT, a global initiative supported by The Nippon Foundation.

Law students at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) had a unique opportunity to engage with Judge Rizgar Mohammed Amin, famously known as the presiding judge during the historic trial of Saddam Hussein, in a seminar organized by the AUIS Law Department.

The Academic Preparatory Program (APP) from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani conducted a professional development workshop on April 16, 2025, in collaboration with the American Corner – Erbil at the University of Kurdistan – Hawler. The session focused on integrating artificial intelligence tools into educational practices.
