Baghdad, October 29, 2026 – The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) participated as a Gold Sponsor in the Iraq Students Exhibition and Higher Education Conference, held in Baghdad on October 28–29, 2026, bringing together universities and educational institutions from Iraq and abroad.

The exhibition was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa Al-Hasani, Iraq's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who also visited the AUIS booth and met with University representatives.

On October 20, 2026 – The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted the Spaghetti Bridge Competition 2026, bringing together 60 students from 12 high schools for an exciting challenge that combined engineering, creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Organized by the AUIS Engineering Department in collaboration with the ACI AUIS Student Chapter, the competition challenged students to design and construct bridges using only spaghetti and glue, applying engineering principles to create structures capable of supporting weight.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) welcomed a delegation from the U.S.–Kurdistan Business Council (USKBC) on Thursday, October 15, 2026, for a campus tour and discussions with University administrators, faculty, and staff. The visit explored opportunities to strengthen connections between higher education and the private sector, with a focus on student internships, graduate employment, and industry input into academic programs.

Sulaimani, October 10, 2026 – The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) proudly celebrated its 15th Commencement Ceremony, honoring the achievements of 288 undergraduate and MBA graduates from the Class of 2026.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) participated in the International School of Choueifat (ISC) Sulaimani Carnival on October 3, 2026.

During the event, the AUIS team connected with students, families, and members of the community, introducing them to the University’s academic programs, American-style education, student experience, and opportunities available to prospective students.

On September 30, 2026, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the American Corner of Sulaymaniyah, marking a new chapter of collaboration between the two institutions.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) officially launched its Teaching Dental Clinics, marking an important step in advancing practical dental education and expanding dental services for the community.

The new clinics provide College of Dentistry students with the opportunity to move from simulation-based learning to supervised, hands-on patient care. Through direct clinical experience, students can strengthen their practical skills while working under professional supervision and contributing to the delivery of quality dental services.
