The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was pleased to receive a distinguished delegation from the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

The UKH delegation included Professor Chris Bridle, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Blend Hussen Mohammed, Program Director of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Program; Professor Teshk Nouri Shawis, Dean of the School of Medicine; and the university’s Finance Director.

The College of Dentistry at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) recently had the privilege of welcoming Prof. Dr. Rizgar A. Mageed to campus for an insightful two-day lecture series on Immunology, tailored specifically for students in the College of Dentistry. This exclusive academic event provided a unique opportunity for dentistry students to deepen their understanding of immunology under the guidance of a world-renowned expert.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) recently welcomed the Restoring Hope team, an initiative redefining amputee support by bringing rapid, high-quality prosthetic solutions directly to patients in need. Restoring Hope is an initiative of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan in response to the challenge facing amputees in Gaza.

Dr. Hemin Latif, Assistant Professor of Computing and Informatics and Director of the AUIS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (AEIC), recently delivered an insightful presentation on a holistic approach to integrating entrepreneurship and innovation into the campus at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS).

AUIS College of Pharmacy recently hosted an insightful seminar titled "Don't Skip a Dose: The Hidden Power of Medication Adherence," presented by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Omer Mohammed, President of the Kurdistan Higher Council of Medical Specialties (KHCMS) and Professor of Medicine.

March 13, 2025 – AUIS had the honor of hosting His Excellency Mr. Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, for a special visit that fostered discussions on entrepreneurship, innovation, and the future of Kurdistan’s business landscape.

March 13, 2025 – The Consulate General of Italy in Erbil, represented by Consul General Tommaso Sansone and Alberto Campagnolo from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers-Liaison, visited the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), where they met with Dr. Bilal A. Wahab, AUIS President, to discuss potential areas of collaboration between Italy and AUIS.

The AUIS College of Pharmacy recently hosted a seminar on AI in Drug Development, presented by Dr. Nechirwan Taimur, an esteemed adjunct faculty member specializing in pharmaceutical analysis and drug development.

In collaboration with Sunlit Strategies, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted a dynamic International Women’s Day event dedicated to empowering female students. The event focused on fostering leadership skills, building confidence, and encouraging young women to embrace their identities with pride and purpose.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani conducted a comprehensive teacher training program on March 6, 2025, titled " Artificial Intelligence- Transforming Your Class, Transforming Education" focused on artificial intelligence applications in education. The program brought together educators from primary through secondary levels to develop skills in integrating AI into instructional planning, teaching methodologies, and assessment development—enabling participants to navigate the evolving educational landscape.
