On December 4, 2025, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) welcomed the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Christopher Boehm, to campus for a series of high-level discussions with AUIS President Dr. Bilal Wahab and representatives of the Institute of Regional and International Studies (IRIS).

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) successfully hosted a professional development training event titled "From Learners to Leaders: Empowering Students with AI in English Education." The workshop brought together educators from more than 30 schools across the Sulaimani region, focusing on how teachers can guide students in effectively using AI tools for language acquisition.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) proudly hosted Iraq’s first-ever National VEX Robotics Competition for the 2025–2026 season—an important milestone for STEM education and youth innovation in the country. Held on November 30, 2025, the event brought together talented young students from across Iraq to compete, collaborate, and showcase their engineering, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

From November 17–23, The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week with a vibrant series of events designed to inspire creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking among students. The week brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, faculty, and industry experts for a range of workshops, talks, and activities.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Shwan Jamal Azeez, Associate Professor in the Social Sciences Department, has published a peer-reviewed article in the highly regarded journal The Extractive Industries and Society (Elsevier).

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) is proud to announce that Dr. Ramazan Uctu, faculty member in the Business Administration Department, has published a research paper in the International Journal of Innovation Studies, a highly ranked academic journal (CiteScore: 9.2, Impact Factor: 5.3, Q1 level).

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) successfully hosted the three-day closing conference of the DAAD-funded Developing Jordanian and Iraqi Support Systems in Entrepreneurship Resources (DJISSER) Project, marking the culmination of 2.5 years of collaboration with Saarland University in Germany and Hashemite University in Jordan.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) proudly hosted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Regional and International Studies (IRIS), the center for policy research and training based at AUIS, and the Ministry of Migration and Displacement. The ceremony took place in the presence of Her Excellency Minister Evan Faek Yakoub, AUIS President Dr. Bilal Wahab, representatives from AUIS, and leading researchers.
