The 2026 Kurdish Studies Forum will take place in Slemani on November 11–12, bringing together scholars, writers, artists, researchers, and cultural practitioners for two days of dialogue, creativity, and exchange.

AUIS Engineering Professor Publishes Research on Environmental Impacts of Conflict

Professor Dr. Ahmed Salih Mohammed, a faculty member in the Department of Engineering at American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), published new research examining the environmental impacts associated with the 2026 USA–Israel–Iran conflict.

The study was published in Environmental Progress & Sustainable Energy, a Wiley journal published in association with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, with an Impact Factor of 2.6.

AUIS International Relations Professor Publishes Research on Natural Gas Governance

American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) announced the publication of new research by Dr. Shwan Jamal Azeez, Assistant Professor of International Relations, examining natural gas governance in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The research article, titled “Fragmented Authority, Credible Commitment, and Natural Gas Governance in a De Facto State: The Kurdistan Regional Government,” was published in The Extractive Industries and Society, an Elsevier journal. The journal is Q1-ranked in Scopus, with an Impact Factor of 4.5 and a CiteScore of 8.0.

American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) participated in the Kurdistan Institutes and Universities Exhibition, organized by Zanyary Poli 12 at the Youth Hub in Erbil on September 6–7, 2026.

AUIS Celebrates Academic Preparatory Program Graduates

American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) celebrated the graduation of students from its Academic Preparatory Program (APP), marking an important milestone in their academic journey.

A total of 84 students from the Fall and Spring terms completed the program, strengthening the academic and English language skills needed to prepare for university-level study. Throughout APP, students developed their knowledge, communication skills, academic abilities, and confidence as they prepared for the next stage of their education.
