AUIS Represented at 2nd Iraqi Orthodontic Symposium in Baghdad

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was proudly represented at the 2nd Iraqi Orthodontic Symposium held in Baghdad by Prof. Dr. Tara Ali Rasheed, Interim Dean of the AUIS College of Dentistry.

The symposium brought together orthodontic professionals and academics from across Iraq to exchange expertise and explore advances in the field, with a particular focus on Digital Orthodontics and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence.

AUIS Hosts Delegation from the Chinese Consulate in Erbil

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Erbil on May 19, 2025. The delegation included Consul General Mr. Liu Jun, Head of the Political Section Mr. Chen Guojing, and Mr. Liu Jiahao of the Political Section.

European Delegation Visits AUIS for Strategic Dialogue and Engagement

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was pleased to welcome two prominent European figures for a campus visit and exchange with university leadership on May 19, 2025.

Mr. Emmanouil Karagiannis, Reader in International Security at the Defence Studies Department of King's College London, and Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos, former European Union Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs & Citizenship (2014–2019) and current Member of the Hellenic Parliament, visited AUIS as part of a broader engagement with the region.

AUIS Professional Development Institute Celebrates Graduation of Peshmerga Officers from Intensive English Program

The Professional Development Institute (PDI) at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of a six-month Intensive English Language Program, sponsored by Spirit of America (SoA). The program, which took place from October 2024 to April 2025, was tailored specifically for a selected group of Peshmerga officers, aiming to strengthen their English proficiency and enhance communication with international partners.

U.S. Consulate Visa Officer Visits AUIS for Student Information Session

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was pleased to welcome Mr. Alan Smith, Visa Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, for an official campus visit. During his visit, Mr. Smith met with AUIS President Dr. Bilal Wahab to discuss ongoing academic collaboration and support for students aspiring to study in the United States.

AUIS hosts “1st Annual Forum for Research in Progress in the English Fields”: an event unmatched in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

On April 26 2025, The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted its first “Annual Forum for Research-in-Progress in the English Fields,” bringing together over 80 researchers and students of English literature, linguistics, translation, and education from as far North as Duhok and as far South as Babylon. Organized by AUIS faculty and students, this was the first event of its kind held in the Kurdistan Region.

AUIS C.A.R.E.S breaking Barriers for Campus Mental Health Support in Collaboration with Sulaimani University

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani hosted an important seminar titled "Building Effective Support Systems on College Campuses" on May 7, 2025. The event, designed and run by the C.A.R.E.S. team,  featured five distinguished panel speakers, including Dr. Lynn Rose, Dr. Loren O'Connor, Dr. Thierry Kolpin, Dr. Koyar Sherko, and Ms. Panagiotta Magga, all experts in various aspects of disability services and mental health support in academic settings.
