The AUIS Professional Development Institute Provides Tailored English Language Training for Peshmerga Forces in Sulaimani

As part of its continuous efforts to support capacity development in the region, the Professional Development Institute (PDI) is proud to announce the delivery of a 6-month tailored English Language Training Program for Peshmerga officers and soldiers from the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs (MOPA) of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). This training is sponsored by Spirit of America, a U.S. non-governmental and nonprofit organization. 

AUIS Hosts Engaging Fall English Bash

On October 16, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) welcomed students and faculty to the highly anticipated Fall English Bash, organized by the Academic Preparatory Program (APP) Department. 

The event provided a wonderful opportunity for attendees to engage with faculty members, network with students, and participate in a variety of fun activities centered around English language and literature. With a warm autumn atmosphere, students enjoyed lively discussions, games, and interactive sessions that fostered a sense of community and camaraderie. 

First AUIS Fall Carnival at Azadi Park

On October 18, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) held its first Fall Carnival at Azadi Park, inviting the community for an exciting day of fun and engagement.

AUIS Hosts "Strategic Innovation and Leadership Forum"

On October 13, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) successfully held its first annual "Strategic Innovation and Leadership Forum," bringing together a diverse array of international, regional, and local experts. The forum provided a platform for insightful discussions on transformative leadership and the vital role of innovation in shaping our community. 

AUIS Clubs Day Showcases Student Creativity and Engagement

On September 29, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) held its annual Clubs Day, with around 50 student clubs participating. The event provided an opportunity for students to explore a wide variety of extracurricular activities, ranging from arts and technology to community service and entrepreneurship. 

Netherlands Ambassador Janet Alberda Visits AUIS to Explore Academic Collaboration and Student Opportunities

On Tuesday, September 24, AUIS had the honor of welcoming the Netherlands Ambassador in Baghdad, Ms. Janet Alberda, to our campus. Ambassador Alberda was accompanied by the Interim Consul General, Mr. Roelof Van Ees. During their visit, they met with AUIS President, Dr. Bilal Wahab, to discuss potential avenues for academic collaboration between AUIS and Dutch institutions. 

AUIS Hosts Lecture by Japanese Ambassador Futoshi Matsumoto

On Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted a special lecture by Mr. Futoshi Matsumoto, the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq. The event, exclusively organized for AUIS faculty and staff, focused on the topic, "Japan's Modernization and Its Lessons for the Future of Iraq and Kurdistan." 

AUIS Hosted Panel Discussion with Ambassador Stephen Hitchen

On Wednesday, September 18th, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted a dynamic panel discussion with Ambassador Stephen Hitchen from the British Consulate General in Erbil titled, “Youth, Democracy, and Opportunities: A Discussion with Ambassador Stephen Hitchen and Chevening Scholarship Highlights.” The event focused on critical issues such as youth engagement in democracy, upcoming elections, policy priorities, and the Chevening Scholarship program. 

AUIS Open House: A Glimpse into the Future for Aspiring Students

On Monday, September 9, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted its highly anticipated Open House, welcoming recent high school graduates and prospective students to explore the university’s academic offerings and campus life. The event, held at 3:00 PM on the AUIS campus, provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to meet with faculty, staff, and current students.
