AUIS Partners with the French School in Sulaymaniyah to Enhance Education

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) and the French School Danielle Mitterrand—the French school in Sulaymaniyah—have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the transition from high school to higher education. This partnership aims to enhance college readiness, expand access to higher education, and foster community engagement.

The French School Danielle Mitterrand has around five graduating cohorts, with each cohort mastering four languages—English, Kurdish, Arabic, and French. Through this collaboration, AUIS will provide opportunities for these multilingual graduates to explore academic programs, career pathways, and research opportunities.

Key initiatives include:

  • Mentorship programs connecting AUIS faculty and students with high schoolers
  • Campus visits and workshops to support college readiness
  • Joint events such as academic competitions and exhibitions
  • Educator development through AUIS-led training sessions
  • Research opportunities for high school students

The delegation from the French School Danielle Mitterrand included:

  • Ghada Ben Othman (The Headmistress)
  • Rana Midhat Kamil (Dialogue Oraganization members)
  • Banaz Qadir Shafiq (Board member)
  • Bahra Yasin Rauf (Board member)
  • Hardy Taimur Hama Amin (Board member)
  • Taymaa Hussein Kheirbek  (Board member)
