AUIS Hosts 2nd Annual University Day Event

  American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted its second University Day event on Thursday, May 4, 2023 on its campus. More than 2,500 visitors attended the day-long event as AUIS opened its doors to the public and showcased student capstone projects, clubs, research centers, activities, alumni businesses, and more.    The event kicked off with a ribbon cutting led by University President Dr. Bruce Walker Ferguson, along with special guests, including KRG Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Kwestan Mohamad Abdulla Maarouf, Sulaimani Governor Dr. Haval Abubakr, Dr. Sarbagh Salih, and others. Students dressed in traditional costumes welcomed attendees as the event officially began.   Students and faculty members of each academic department and major met visitors and showed off senior and faculty research projects, in addition to providing information about studying at AUIS. This year’s event included booths featuring new programs in dentistry, pharmacy, cybersecurity, and more.   Attendees also enjoyed theater and musical performances put on by various student groups.   AUIS held its inaugural University Day event in 2022, coinciding with the University’s 15th anniversary.

Get a glimpse of the incredible work being done by our academic departments as they showcase their innovative research and projects. Be inspired by the passion and creativity of our student capstones, and see firsthand the impact they're making on our campus and beyond.   But that's not all – there's something for everyone at AUIS University Day! Explore the vibrant student life and student-run clubs that make our campus come alive. Discover the cutting-edge research being conducted at our renowned research centers, and learn how they're pushing the boundaries of knowledge in their respective fields.   And for our beloved alumni, don't miss the alumni bazaar, where you can reconnect with old friends, reminisce about your time at AUIS, and support current students in their academic endeavors.   A preliminary map is available below to show the locations of the activity areas.   Important notes to consider before and during the University Day ·       All guests are required to register upon their arrival. Registration stations will be available after the main gate. ·       All students, faculty, and staff must park their cars in the space behind Building A. Security members will direct you to the allocated parking area. ·       No more guests will be entered after 4 pm   Get ready for an epic day of discovery at AUIS University Day. AUIS Celebrates its First University Day and 15-Year Anniversary

  American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) celebrated its first University Day event and 15-year anniversary on Thursday, May 19, 2022 on its campus. More than 4,000 visitors attended the day-long event as AUIS opened its doors to the public for the first time and showcased student capstone projects, clubs, research centers, activities, and more.    The event kicked off with an opening ceremony led by University President Dr. Bruce Walker Ferguson, who recognized the University's impact over the last 15 years as well as the various departments who played a role in putting the day together.   Students and faculty members of each academic department and major met visitors and showed off senior and faculty research projects, in addition to providing information about studying at AUIS.    The Student Services Department organized a pavilion for student clubs and sports teams to run games and activities for visitors, as well as demonstrate the importance of student life as part of overall University life at AUIS. Similarly, the six research centers housed at AUIS displayed their various projects and initiatives covering topics from environmental and heritage preservation to gender studies, as well as entrepreneurship, translation, and regional and international studies.
