Department of Business Administration

Welcome to the Department of Business Administration! We are excited to educate our current students and have new students join our programs every semester!

We offer three majors: Bachelors of Science (BS) in Business Administration, BS in Human Resources Management (HRM), and BS in Digital Marketing and Social Media (DMSM).  We also offer concentration opportunities to business students in Accounting, Management, Economics, Marketing, and Finance. Moreover, students from other majors can complete minors in Business Administration, Management, or Economics. You may find out details of all these in our Academic Catalog.  You may also explore these pages for further information.

American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was established in 2007 to offer a truly comprehensive American-style education in Iraq. AUIS is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational, and English-speaking university.  It has an accredited Academic Preparatory Program that helps our students to have superior English communications skills and prepares them for a successful undergraduate education in English.

Our department started in the early years of AUIS. AUIS also simultaneously launched an MBA program for students planning to study business and leadership at the graduate level. We have hundreds of graduates who are successful entrepreneurs and professional employees in top companies and organizations throughout the region. Some of our graduates have been accepted into graduate schools at high-ranking universities in the US and Europe. Some of them have gone on to become university instructors.

AUIS is a model university in Iraq noted for its excellence! It is rooted in American-style education. It strives to educate men and women as professional and national leaders and valued members of their communities. At AUIS, students go far beyond merely absorbing, memorizing, and reciting facts and information they have received from their professors. AUIS, with its comprehensive curriculum, not only teaches up-to-date knowledge and skills, but also emphasizes critical thinking, good citizenship, and personal integrity. Students often work in teams for problem-solving; they debate with each other and learn from one another. Our excellent faculty are professionals in American-style education. They use modern teaching and learning techniques in order to equip all AUIS students with the skills, insights, and confidence to make positive contributions to their communities.

As the department, we strive to develop future business professionals and leaders who are capable of propelling this region into the forefront of the business world. We equip our students with the tools necessary to excel in private sector enterprises by effectively conveying core discipline-specific knowledge, coupled with developing critical and strategic thinking, analysis, synthesis and problem-solving abilities. We utilize best practices of an American-style business education.

We also serve as a model and resource for business programs and businesses in the region. We engage in outreach programs with regional business organizations. We believe that the Middle East has a great potential for businesses.

Again, welcome to the Department of Business Administration! We would love you to pursue your education with us!
