AUIS Partners with US State Department to Launch the Access Teacher Training Program

Thursday, June 1, 2023 - 13:00
American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), in partnership with the United States Department of State, launched the Access Teacher Training Program on Thursday, June 1, 2023 for high school English teachers in Sulaimani and Halabja. Fifty participants from Halabja, Sulaimani, and Rania with experience in English-teaching were selected to participate in a four-week long course with six sessions on transformative education, universal design, active learning teaching strategies, and up-to-date professional development and networking skills to equip English teachers to excel in their performance inside and outside the classroom. Sessions are delivered by highly-qualified and experienced faculty from AUIS's Academic Preparatory Program (APP).
The training follows the first Access Alumni Conference held at AUIS May 15-18, 2023, also conducted in partnership with the US Department of State. The conference was aimed at young individuals who aspire to improve their career skills and future studies. Topics discussed included building a professional career, enhancing your CV, and upgrading your IT skills. Applications to attend were open to all Access Program alumni students from across Iraq.
AUIS has been a proud Access Program partner, providing an opportunity for students in Sulaimani to learn about U.S. leadership and cultural values, deepen their knowledge of the English language, and take an active part in the development of Kurdistan.
