Academic requirements

Each BA program* has entry requirements based on the eligibility scores set by the Ministry of Education. For the Iraqi students, final high school exam results are considered. Please check the requirements below For vocational or institute graduates, please contact the Admissions office to confirm the academic requirements relevant to your educational background. For international school graduates, after your application to AUIS, you will need to equalize your high school certificate at the KRG Directorate of Exams (Azmoonakan office). For more information, please read here or consult AUIS Admissions Counselor.

English language requirement

Since AUIS is an American university, all education is done in English language only. Therefore, an English language test is required of all applicants, unless they finished an international high school. The placement test is done at AUIS, free of charge. Based on the placement score, students will be either able to start undergraduate program (UG) studies at once or will need Academic Preparatory Program (APP). English test requirement for UG: TOEFL iBT 72 - IELTS 6.5

  • Transfer Students
  • Study Abroad Students

Transfer students go through the same application process, but in addition you need to submit an official university transcript (physical copy) or send a pdf file of the official transcript via email to [email protected]. Applicants should allow 1-3 weeks for a response for a transfer credit request.

Studying abroad at AUIS offers students a unique opportunity to experience life in Sulaimani and Iraqi Kurdistan while studying in the American style university that offers quality education in English in a very international community.
