Yes, AUIS now offers new degrees in Dental Surgery and Pharmacy, in addition to the Medical Laboratory Science degree. We hope to announce even more programs in the future.

Yes, students from outside of Iraq can enroll at AUIS but must officially equalize their high school certificates through the KRG Ministry of Higher Education in Erbil. After the Ministry equalizes their high school record to the Iraqi system, students will receive the equivalent of a Baccalaureate score.

Depending on a student's program of study, AUIS offers different start dates for classes.
- Undergraduate classes begin in September and February
- APP courses begin in October, November, and February. This is generally when new students matriculate into the University

The Academic Preparatory Program (APP) offers intensive English-language training to prepare students for AUIS’s English-only Undergraduate program. Most AUIS students spend some time in APP before entering the Undergraduate program to ensure their language skills are sufficient for their studies. Visit our APP page for more information about the program.
AUIS relies on an internally designed placement test to determine applicants' English language level, however students may also submit TOEFL IBT or IELTS exam scores to determine their English level.
AUIS is fully accredited by the ministries of higher education in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. AUIS was the first private university in the Kurdistan Region to receive such accreditation from the federal government and had worked for several years to meet the Ministry’s accreditation standards.
The Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) has granted the University’s Academic Preparatory Program (APP) a second ten-year accreditation through April 2030. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. Moreover, AUIS has a dual degree program with the University of Arizona, which is ranked 52 in the world. Through the dual degree program, students will receive ABET accredited degrees in Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

Each country handles accreditations differently, but, generally speaking, AUIS’s accreditations translate to recognition in Europe, particularly Great Britain. AUIS graduates have been accepted to graduate programs across Europe, including the UK, Germany, Sweden, Russia and more.
