Korean Studies Scholarship (AKS-2023-INC-2230005)

Seed Program for Korean Studies of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Studies Promotion Service at the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS-2023-INC-2230005) Scholarship. This is a full three-year scholarship at AUIS funded by the Korean Government, running from Fall 2023 until Spring 2026, for International Relations and International Studies majors interested in Korean Studies. That covers full tuition, housing and books.

 

Eligibility

  • International Studies or International Relations student, sophomore or above. (Second year preferred).
  • There can be no change of major after receiving the scholarship.
  • High GPA and overall strong academic performance.
  • Candidates cannot be recipients of any other form of scholarship or financial assistance within or outside of AUIS, including the Korean Studies work-study program.
  • Strong academic interest in international relations, politics, social sciences, East Asia, and Korea.
  • Strong interest in Korea and East Asia at large, with a particular focus on the fields of politics, social studies, economy, culture.
  • Excellent level of English; some prior knowledge of Korean is beneficial (considered an advantage) but not required to apply.
  • Commitment to learn the Korean language over time, with online resources at AUIS and under the supervision of Dr. Spezza.
  • Recipients must enroll in all the Korea-related courses that AUIS will offer in the next 3 years starting from the Fall 2023 semester.

How to Apply

Applicants will be required to fill out an application through the Scholarship Office.

Selection Process

Scholarships will be awarded prior to the start of the Fall semester. The Scholarship Committee will assess and vote on the recipient for each award.
