Two AUIS Teams Partake in Global Cybersecurity Competition
Two teams from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) secured spots in the prestigious Global Cybersecurity Competition hosted by the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) and the Atlantic Council.
The competition, known as Cyber 9/12, attracts interdisciplinary teams from across the globe who compete by presenting a policy response to a simulated cyber attack scenario. This year, AUIS teams achieved success following a highly competitive selection process that attracted hundreds of teams seeking participation.
Dr. Berzy's team advanced to the first round, showcasing their proficiency in cybersecurity strategies and policy formulation. Their achievement reflects the high caliber of education and training provided at AUIS.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tobin's team, composed of experts in International Studies, Law, and IT, surpassed expectations by reaching the semi-finals. Their success underscores the collaborative and interdisciplinary approach fostered at AUIS, preparing students for real-world challenges in cybersecurity.
Participating in the GCSP Cyber 9/12 competition is a feat in itself, and the fact that not one but two AUIS teams have secured positions is a testament to their capabilities and the university's commitment to excellence.
As AUIS continues to make strides in cybersecurity education and research, these accomplishments underscore the university's position as a leading institution in preparing the next generation of cybersecurity experts and policy leaders.
