AUIS Promotes Health Education Through Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

On October 23, 2025, the American University of Sulaimani (AUIS), in partnership with Faruk Medical City (FMC), hosted a Pink October awareness event aimed at educating the AUIS community about breast cancer prevention and early detection.

The event also featured a hands-on breast self-examination session in collaboration with Faruk Medical City, where Ms. Tavga Raaof and Ms. Lava Star provided participants with practical guidance on proper techniques and emphasized the importance of regular self-checks for early detection.

A story of recovery and resilience was shared by Ms. Kanar Jalal, whose experience highlighted how awareness, early diagnosis, and community support play a vital role in overcoming breast cancer.

The Pink October event reaffirmed AUIS’s strong commitment to promoting health awareness and preventative care within its community. Supported by Faruk Medical City, the initiative was organized by the AUIS C.A.R.E.S Team, led by Ms. Shabang Sardar and Ms. Tayma Hussien, and brought together students, faculty, and staff in a united effort to raise awareness.
