AUIS Faculty Publishes Article on China’s Digital Silk Road

The American University in Sulaimani (AUIS) is pleased to share that Dr. Ramazan Uctu, faculty member in the Business Administration Department, has published a research article in East Asian Policy, a journal published by the National University of Singapore.
The article, titled “Unveiling the Transformative Effect of China’s Digital Silk Road on Southeast Asian Countries,” examines how China’s Digital Silk Road (DSR) is shaping economic and digital development across Southeast Asia. The DSR focuses on strengthening digital infrastructure, including telecommunications networks, e-commerce platforms, digital payments, and smart city initiatives, aiming to enhance connectivity, boost trade, and bridge the digital divide in the region.
The research highlights how the initiative promotes person-to-person exchanges and deeper economic cooperation among partner nations, while also exploring the challenges of regulatory differences, financing sustainability, and digital governance. The article emphasizes that strategic collaboration between governments, investments in local capacity, and inclusive access to digital technologies are key to maximizing the DSR’s transformative potential.
This study provides valuable insights into the implications of large-scale digital infrastructure projects in emerging markets and their role in fostering regional integration and innovation.
