AUIS Faculty Member Publishes Chapter on Entrepreneurship in Kurdistan Region

The American University in Sulaimani (AUIS) is proud to announce that Dr. Ramazan Uctu, faculty member in the Business Administration Department, has published a chapter in Global, Regional, and National Entrepreneurial Ecosystems – Exploring the Interplay within the MENA Region (Emerald Publishing, September 9, 2025).
Titled “The Entrepreneurial Ecosystem of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq,” the chapter explores the region’s political and economic landscape, noting persistent challenges such as bureaucratic inefficiencies, limited access to finance, and a gap between education and market needs. At the same time, it highlights opportunities in KRI’s youthful population, growing digital adoption, and emerging support networks.
The study emphasizes the need for reforms in regulation, talent development, and financing to foster innovation-driven growth and reduce reliance on oil revenues. It also offers actionable insights for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to help build a more resilient and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kurdistan, contributing to the broader MENA region discourse.
