Wided Ben Tekaya joined the APP program in Fall 2021 to teach academic reading and writing. She previously taught at the American University of Afghanistan in the English Language Center. She has spent over 10 years teaching ESL/EAP in Tunisia, Turkey, and Afghanistan, preparing students for international examinations in several IB and Cambridge associate schools.

Wided has worked as head of the English department, instructional coordinator, instructor of English language and literature, and education consultant. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language, Literature and Civilization from the University of Sousse, Tunisia, and has pursued a Master of Education in TESOL.

Wided has an inspiring and fun approach that establishes all the important connections with her students. She creates a supportive and motivating environment where learners want to be, and subsequently look forward to each and every class.

She encourages all her students to be who they are, to bring their hopes, enthusiasm, as well as their full attention to discover how language is a beautiful mixture of individuality and collaboration. Ultimately, seeing students immerse into their education to shape a better world for themselves and others, makes what she does an incredibly rewarding value in her life, and a most satisfying vocation.
