Wendy Chamberlin

Wendy Chamberlin served as President of The Middle East Institute in Washington, DC from 2007 to August 2019. She served as Deputy High Commissioner for the UN's High Commisioner for Refugees from 2004 to 2007, where she supervised the administration of the multi-billion dollar UN humanitarian organization. 

For nearly three decades, Chamberlin was a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service and served as Ambassador to the Laos People's Democratic Republic from 1996-1999, and to Pakistan from 2001 to 2002. 

Chamberlin's other assignments included an appointment to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as Assistant Administrator in the Asia-Near East Bureau from 2002 to 2004 where she helped establish civilian reconstruction programs Iraq and Afghanistan.
