Profile

Shan Fadhil served as a Pre-Academic Program (PAP) Lecturer at Qaiwan International University from October 2023 to March 2024. In this role, Shan was responsible for delivering lectures to students in areas including academic writing, study skills, and English language proficiency. Her responsibilities included developing curriculum materials, creating lesson plans, and designing assessments to support student learning. Shan evaluated student performance through assignments, exams, and other assessments, providing constructive feedback aimed at improving students’ academic skills. She also offered individualized support, guiding students in study techniques, time management, and utilizing campus resources. Regular office hours were held to address student concerns and provide additional assistance as needed. Additionally, Shan managed various administrative duties related to the program, maintained student records, tracked student progress, and collaborated with faculty and staff. She prioritized cultural sensitivity, fostering an inclusive learning environment for international students.

In July 2023, Shan held a position as a Trainer at the University of Kurdistan Hewler (UKH). Her role involved developing and implementing training programs for teachers, focusing on skill development and performance improvement. She was responsible for identifying skill gaps, creating training materials, and conducting interactive sessions utilizing demonstrations, role-playing, and hands-on activities. Shan developed assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of the training and ensured compliance with educational policies and standards. She integrated Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approaches into the training programs to promote continuous improvement in teaching practices. 

Shan’s professional attributes include strong communication and problem-solving skills, organizational efficiency, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. She is known for her punctuality, accuracy, and collaborative team spirit. Shan also contributed to several humanitarian initiatives, including serving as a translator coordinator for the Kardin organization in 2018 and volunteering for three months in 2017 with Kurdistan Save Children and the Center of Education for Children with Special Needs. 

Academically, Shan holds a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Kurdistan Hewler, earned in 2024, and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Sulaymaniyah, obtained in 2015. She is proficient in English, Arabic, Kurdish, and Turkish.
