Saya Omar earned her B.S at The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani, with a major in Medical Laboratory Science and a minor in International Studies. Saya joined AUIS in Fall 2023. Before joining AUIS, Saya has worked as a trained medical laboratory technologist at Faruk Medical City where she was processing, approving, and signing laboratory test reports in Immunology, Serology, Haematology, and Biochemistry departments.

During and before her studies at AUIS, Saya has been an active individual participating in research and other academic events. In 2016 Saya became an alumnus of the international scientific research competition Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair for inventing a novel skin cream formula.
