Dr. Rebwar R. Salih is a political scientist and policy-maker from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and a lecturer at the University of Halabja. He is the author of ‘Kurdish Politics in the Middle East: Lessons from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq’, published by Springer Nature – Palgrave Macmillan, 2025 (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-66826-5). He moved to the United Kingdom in 2002 and became a British citizen in 2008. He earned a BA in Global Politics and International Relations (2015) from Birkbeck College, University of London and an MSc in Government, Policy and Politics (2016) also from Birkbeck College, University of London. He subsequently pursued doctoral studies at Darwin College, University of Cambridge, where he received his PhD in April 2023.

Dr. Salih has held research and leadership roles in both academic and policy-oriented settings. He worked with the London-based Centre for Kurdish Progress, served as President of the Cambridge University Kurdish Society (CUKS), and co-founded the Iraqi Center for Policy Analysis and Research (ICPAR). His research and professional activities focus on the politics and governance of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), as well as broader questions of Iraqi politics, Middle Eastern affairs, and regional and international relations.
