Dr. Twana A. Hassan is a lecturer in law specializing in legal philosophy, constitutional law, and international law. He completed his PhD at the University of Queensland, where his research examined the limits of free speech as a fundamental problem of justice and constitutional order. He has taught international law, constitutional law, legal theory, criminology, and legal reasoning at the University of Queensland, Griffith University, and the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani. He is a Board Member of the Kurdistan Center for International Law (KCIL), contributing to legal reform efforts including drafting anti- discrimination legislation for the Kurdistan Parliament and integrating international criminal law into Iraq's legal system. His broader experience includes consultancy on electoral integrity, housing and property rights, transitional justice, and human rights law through the United Nations, UN- HABITAT, IFES, and the International Commission for Missing Persons, as well as project management and legal team leadership at Heartland Alliance International, directing legal services for vulnerable communities across Iraq.
