Profile

Dr. Amanj Raheem, the Cabinet Secretary of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) since October 2014, is joining AUIS as a visiting faculty member. With a distinguished career in governance and law, Dr. Raheem brings extensive expertise to his academic engagement with AUIS. 
Holding an LLM (2003) and a PhD with honors in Business Law (2008), Dr. Raheem has served in various pivotal roles, including Chief of Staff to the KRG Prime Minister and Senior Legal Advisor to the KRG cabinet. He has led the development of several financial and administrative laws in the Kurdistan Region and has played a central role in negotiations with the federal government on constitutional energy and budget matters. 
Dr. Raheem’s contributions extend to public financial reforms, including the establishment of the KRG’s Debt Management Office and revisions of tax laws for improved implementation and collection. He also serves as the head of the coordination committee for transparency and accountability in the oil and gas sector. 
In addition to his governmental role, Dr. Raheem is a lecturer at the Judicial Training Institution and holds certifications in oil and gas contracts, international arbitration, and international trade law. His unique blend of practical experience and academic expertise will enrich the learning environment for AUIS students.
