Dr. Ali A. Rahman has been serving as the Director of the Law Program since 2019. With a strong commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Rahman has significantly contributed to shaping the program's direction, ensuring it remains aligned with both contemporary legal challenges and international standards.
His academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of administrative reform and anti-corruption issues, areas in which he has made meaningful contributions through research and advocacy. Dr. Rahman has a deep commitment to improving legal systems, particularly in the context of the Middle East.
In addition to his role at the university, Dr. Rahman has worked with several prominent international NGOs, including the International Human Rights Law Institute, where he played a key role in reforming the law curriculum for Iraq and Kurdistan. His expertise in legal education reform has also extended to his work with the Center for the Study of the Middle East at Indiana University Bloomington, where he contributed to preparing a report for the UN Fact-Finding Committee on human rights violations in Libya.
Dr. Rahman is also deeply interested in Islamic law and jurisprudence, and he continues to engage in research that explores the intersection of Islamic legal traditions with modern legal systems.
