The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Erbil on May 19, 2025. The delegation included Consul General Mr. Liu Jun, Head of the Political Section Mr. Chen Guojing, and Mr. Liu Jiahao of the Political Section.

The delegation met with AUIS President Dr. Bilal Wahab to discuss opportunities for academic cooperation, cultural exchange, and regional development. The meeting highlighted AUIS’s liberal arts approach, its diverse student body, and the university’s commitment to fostering global perspectives through dialogue and education.

Conversations explored potential avenues for collaboration, including guest lectures, Chinese book donations to the AUIS library, and student engagement on topics related to international relations and education systems. The visitors also learned more about AUIS’s role in promoting open discussion and critical thinking within the region.
