AUIS Advances Pharmacy Education with First-Ever Hospital-Based OSCE

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) marked a significant advancement in pharmacy education on December 16, 2025, by conducting its first-ever Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)—and for the first time, the exam was held in a real hospital setting. This landmark assessment was conducted in collaboration with Asia International Hospital, whose support and partnership are sincerely appreciated.

Through this OSCE, College of Pharmacy students translated their theoretical knowledge into hands-on clinical practice, engaging in realistic patient-care scenarios that closely reflect professional healthcare environments.

The OSCE is a structured, performance-based examination designed to objectively assess students’ clinical competence, communication skills, and professionalism across standardized stations. It plays a vital role in preparing future pharmacists by evaluating their ability to apply knowledge safely, make sound clinical decisions, and interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams.

Assessed by a distinguished panel of highly qualified internal and external examiners, this initiative represents a key step toward strengthening competency-based education at AUIS.

At AUIS, we remain committed to providing our students with the latest, most up-to-date educational practices, delivered in line with international standards, ensuring graduates are well prepared to meet the evolving demands of modern healthcare systems.
