Position Description:

The Department of English invites applications for two full-time faculty appointment with a primary focus on teaching. We seek a dynamic educator who can teach in our core writing sequence: ENG 101 (Argument), ENG 102 (Critical Reading and Writing), and ENG 203 (Research and Project Writing), while also contributing to our Literature program in areas such as American, British, or World Literature. The ideal candidate will practice a student-centered, inquiry-based approach to teaching that supports students in generating ideas, developing their writing, and engaging in thoughtful research. We are looking for someone who is familiar with the liberal arts model and enthusiastic about helping the department grow through pedagogical innovation, curricular development, and the creation or proposal of new courses. Equally important is a commitment to building strong academic relationships with students and contributing to the intellectual community of the department and the university.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Developing materials for the assigned courses.
  • Developing meaningful assessments that align with the curriculum.
  • Advising students and having office hours.
  • Participating in service activities and faculty governance.
  • Maintaining professional development and scholarship.
     

Qualification:

  • PhD in English, Literature, Rhetoric/Composition, or a closely related field OR Masters in English or writing related field.
  • Native or near native fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Prior teaching experience, especially in literature, or liberal arts core composition courses.
  • Familiarity with liberal arts pedagogy.
