Position Description:

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Mathematics and Natural. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator and researcher to join a growing department in an academic environment that values teaching, research, and innovation. AUIS seeks candidates who are committed to high-quality undergraduate education and are enthusiastic about advancing in the related field.
 

General Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. at the time of appointment in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Chemical Biology. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or Biochemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and related chemistry courses that support Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy, and other health-science programs.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching skills, including the ability to teach diverse populations and students for whom English is not their native language.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A minimum of three years of university-level teaching experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching students in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy, or other health-science programs.

The competitive compensation package for this position includes base salary, subsidized housing, airfare for personal leave, a generous holiday and leave policy, a start-up grant for research, and other benefits.
The successful candidate is expected to begin work at the start of the Fall 2026 semester.
