Profile

Dr. Hareim Hadi Hassan is a Kurdish-Canadian Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Science at the American University of Iraq–Sulaimani. He has taught at both Canadian and Kurdish universities, including courses in reasoning skills and political philosophy at the University of Windsor and Simon Fraser University, as well as political philosophy, critical thinking, argumentation, religions in Iraq, comparative politics, petrostate politics, and conflict management at the American University of Iraq–Sulaimani, Komar University of Science and Technology, and the University of Sulaimani. His research lies at the intersection of political argumentation, extremism, political philosophy, and argumentative civility. His publications appeared in Q1 journals such as Informal Logic and Topoi. 
Dr. Hassan is the recipient of the Qatar Debate Fellowship (2025–2027) for his project Argumentative Civility in the Turkish-Kurdish Peace Process, and he regularly contributes to Kurdish media on topics of critical thinking, dialogue, and civic discourse.
