The Kamkars Lead Panel Discussion on Kurdish Music at AUIS
The American University of Sulaimani was honored to host The Kamkars, one of the most renowned groups in Kurdish music and culture, for a panel discussion on the history and influence of Kurdish music.
Moderated by Dr. Bilal Wahab, President of AUIS, the discussion explored the evolution of Kurdish music, its role in shaping cultural identity, and its lasting influence across generations. The event also featured Bizhan Kamkar, a distinguished member of the Kamkars group known for his contributions to Kurdish and Persian classical music.
As a follow-up to the Kurdish Studies Forum recently hosted at AUIS, the session offered students, faculty, and staff a meaningful opportunity to engage with Kurdish heritage and learn directly from artists whose work continues to preserve and enrich the region’s cultural legacy.
