AUIS Student Music Concert

On Thursday, December 5, 2024, the Conference Hall at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani, came alive with the sounds of music as AUIS students took the stage for a mesmerizing musical evening. The event, which was organized by Kashkul and the Student Services Department, showcased the extraordinary talents of the university's musicians and performers.


The evening began with a warm welcome note delivered by Kashkul's Public Relations Intern, Nwa Karim, setting a gracious and inviting tone for the audience. This was followed by a poetry performance of Sherko Bekas's work by Sarwar Efendi, accompanied by Mujtaba Maytham on piano, performing Chopin's Nocturne in C-Sharp minor, Op. posth. The collaboration of words and music captivated the audience, paving the way for the evening’s diverse lineup.


Next, Drust Faraidun took the stage with a captivating solo Flamenco guitar performance. He played three beautiful pieces: Zambra Mora by Juan Martin, Punta y Tacón by Sabicas, and Canción by Paco Peña.


As the main segment began, a group of talented musicians took the stage, showcasing an impressive fusion of instruments and styles. The lineup included: Layth Raad on piano, Bawan Karim as digital music and producer, Dara Barzinji on guitar, Rosa Hiwa on violin, Gulan Adnan as vocalist, Fehede Herbo on saz and vocals, Balen Omer on saxophone and clarinet, Halo Azad on cajon, sharba, and zarb, and Hakar Azad on drums and daf. 


Their performances delivered a blend of traditional and contemporary pieces, each showcasing the performers’ passion and dedication. 


This concert not only celebrated the artistic talents of AUIS students but also brought the community together, reinforcing the university's commitment to fostering creativity and cultural expression. The performances reflected the student’s dedication, passion, and creative spirit, making it a memorable experience for all attendees.
