The Professional Development Institute (PDI) at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of a six-month Intensive English Language Program, sponsored by Spirit of America (SoA). The program, which took place from October 2024 to April 2025, was tailored specifically for a selected group of Peshmerga officers, aiming to strengthen their English proficiency and enhance communication with international partners.

A total of 28 officers completed the rigorous training, which focused on improving their language skills in a professional and practical context. The initiative underscores AUIS’s continued commitment to fostering educational advancement and cross-cultural collaboration in the region.

To honor the achievements of the participants, a formal graduation ceremony was held on May 11, 2025. The event brought together distinguished guests, including representatives from the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, the U.S. Consulate, the U.S. General Consulate, and Spirit of America. Their presence highlighted the program’s significance in promoting regional security cooperation and capacity-building.

This successful partnership between AUIS, Spirit of America, and the Peshmerga forces reflects a shared vision of empowerment through education and continued investment in Iraq’s future leaders.
