AUIS Hosts Impactful Panel on Justice and Accountability a Decade After the Yazidi Genocide
In a remarkable effort to address the enduring impact of the Yazidi genocide, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted a pivotal panel discussion in collaboration with Yazda, the U.S. Department of State, Nobody’s Listening, and Up Stream.
The event, titled "A Decade Later: Transitional Justice as a Framework to Address the Yazidi Genocide and Prevent Further Atrocities," brought together leading researchers, activists, and experts to reflect on the genocide’s aftermath and explore pathways to justice and accountability.
The panelists delved into critical themes such as transitional justice mechanisms, ensuring accountability for perpetrators, and developing strategies to prevent future atrocities. By fostering such discussions, AUIS and its partners aim to contribute to a global framework that ensures justice for the Yazidi community while safeguarding other vulnerable groups from similar tragedies.
This important conversation underscores the ongoing need for collective action to honor the victims, support survivors, and build a world where such horrors are never repeated.
