AUIS Faculty Support Local Talent as Judges at SABIS Regional Science Fair
April 19, 2025 – Sulaymaniyah*
On Saturday, a group of faculty members from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) participated as judges at the SABIS School’s annual Regional Science Fair. Representing the Engineering, Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), and Math & Natural Sciences Departments, AUIS faculty helped evaluate a range of student-led science projects, bringing academic rigor and professional insight to the event.
The science fair showcased creative and thoughtful projects by high school students from across the region, reflecting months of research, experimentation, and innovation. As judges, AUIS faculty assessed the scientific merit, presentation quality, and real-world relevance of each project, while also engaging students in discussions about their methods and ideas.
This initiative reflects AUIS’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and support for local education. By working with high schools like SABIS, the university aims to encourage young learners, promote scientific literacy, and build bridges between secondary and higher education.
In addition to judging, AUIS faculty had the opportunity to interact with parents, teachers, and school administrators, strengthening the university’s ties with local educational institutions.
The SABIS Regional Science Fair is part of a larger effort to foster scientific enthusiasm and academic excellence among high school students. AUIS is proud to support this mission and looks forward to further collaboration in future editions of the fair.
