Faculty members from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani's  Academic Preparatory Program participated in the annual International TESOL Kurdistan conference held in December 2025 held in Erbil, Kurdistan. The conference served as a necessary platform for addressing the evolving challenges and innovations shaping English language education in an era driven by rapid technological advancement, increasing multilingualism, and complex global issues. Through its focus on discussion, collaboration, and professional development, the event brought together educators and researchers committed to advancing the field of English language teaching.

Three AUIS APP members: Zimkitha Mpatheni (Director), Shahin Ahmedishad, and Katie Ng, represented the university by presenting research and facilitating professional development sessions. Their contributions spanned critical areas in contemporary English language education, including intercultural connectivity in English language learning, disability studies and assistive technology for learners, and the influence of artificial intelligence on academic writing practices. Through both research presentations and an interactive workshop, the AUIS delegation demonstrated the institution's commitment to addressing current pedagogical challenges and exploring innovative teaching methodologies.

The conference participation reflects AUIS's broader engagement with the international English language teaching community. The university has recently formalized a partnership with TESOL Kurdistan, establishing a collaborative framework aimed at promoting best practices in English language instruction and collectively redefining the educational experience for learners across the region. This partnership underscores AUIS's dedication to advancing educational excellence and fostering meaningful connections within the global TESOL community.
