American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) holds the 2024 Creative Arts Competition for students
American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) held the 2024 Creative Arts Competition for students on Tuesday, April 29, 2024. Students who submitted their original work for the competition performed in front of an audience of community members in the Student Center, Building V.
The Creative Arts Award is awarded each year to outstanding AUIS students who demonstrate exceptional creativity in writing. Submissions were accepted in four categories: creative nonfiction essays, poetry, monologues, and short stories. Prizes included 250,000 IQD and 125,000 IQD for first and second place in UG, and 125,000 IQD for the top APP submission.
The competition’s winners were Ravin Nasrullah who placed first in the UG category. She read her short story “Feast”. Nwa Abdulla placed second and read her poem “The ocean inside the bucket”. Razan Bahadin won the APP/Concurrent category for her story “Kani and the Magic Acorn”. Honorable mention awards were also given to Tara Sirwarn Ghafoor for her poem “Water gardens” and Sanaria Kamal for her poem “Recollections of a Town”.
