Directs and coordinates the activities of the AUIS Admissions Office, including recruitment, admissions counseling, application processing, financial aid, and records-keeping providing operational and strategic leadership in order to meet enrollment goals with the highest quality students.  Reports to the Vice President, Academic Affairs. 
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive strategic plan of admissions for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Build a full admissions staff, suitable to the needs of the University.
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate the Admissions staff including the Manager of Enrollment and Financial Aid and the Admissions Counselor.
  • Manage all of the day-to-day operations and set performance goals.
  • Develop and manage the admissions budget.
  • Direct the admissions process from point of inquiry through enrollment by overseeing systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents; interviews with candidates and their parents; tours of the institution; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to in a timely manner.
  • Approve or deny requests to defer admissions.
  • Ensure government requirements and standards are followed or met with respect to admissions.
  • With the Communications Department, develop admissions marketing materials, including relevant sections of the AUIS website.
  • Provide recommendations for the use and implementation of related technology and enhancements that will benefit admissions.
  • Facilitate and coordinate faculty and staff involvement in admissions events.
  • Initiate relationships and create activities intended to interest parents and potential supporters who might assist in attracting quality students.
  • Oversee a network of parents, former parents and alumni to assist in the admissions program.
  • Perform a statistical analysis of student, applicant, and demographic data for use in short and long-term planning.
  • Continually evaluate and redesign aspects of the admissions program as needed in order to meet enrollment goals.
  • Represent AUIS at various gatherings and conferences related to admissions.

 

Job Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree, masters preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years’ broad experience in admission and enrollment.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing admission strategies.
  • Superb English writing/editing and verbal communication skills, with Arabic or Kurdish language.
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
  • Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to “manage by influence”
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force at both the strategic and tactical levels.
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and other supporters.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment strongly preferred
