The System and Network Administrator is responsible for the stability, security, and performance of AUIS’s servers, services and network infrastructure. This includes system and service management such as core identity services, backups, file systems, application hosting, and virtualization. In addition to that, Managing AUIS’s Network including but not limited to designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing IP-based networks that support voice, data, video over wired and wireless Network. The role ensures that all critical systems are maintained efficiently to support academic and administrative operations.


Responsibilities & duties:

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft infrastructure: Active Directory (ADDS), DNS, DHCP, NPS, LDAP across multiple server nodes, WDS, MDT and PXE for system imaging and provisioning.
  • Manage DPM backup solution such as LTO-7 tape autoloader for university-wide data protection and recovery.
  • Maintain WSUS, internal antivirus relay, and IDR (Intrusion Detection and Response) infrastructure for security and compliance.

  • Design, plan and run virtualization solution using Hyper-V nodes hosting critical systems and services.
  • Manage key file and print services.
  • Oversee SMTP server for internal and external email notifications.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and logs using centralized tools managed by the network team.
  • Maintain the Licensing Server for managing application license access across the university.
  • Support and maintain the Certificate Authority (CA) infrastructure.
  • Operate and maintain a large-scale wired and wireless network across academic and administrative buildings utilizing industry technology such as, L2 solution, OSPF and BGP.
  • Handle ISP connections ensuring smooth internet and metro connectivity.
  • Operate and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, and security configurations.
  • Maintain and improve wireless coverage, performance, and authentication systems.
  • Support IP telephony infrastructure and internal communication services.
  • Use monitoring and logging tools to ensure uptime and performance.
  • Contribute to network upgrade and redundancy projects.
  • Plan, design and operate High-Availability solutions
     

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date system documentation and asset inventory.
  • Regularly patch, update, and secure all systems in line with IT policies.
  • Participate in IT planning, including infrastructure growth, audits, and budgeting.
  • Provide advanced support for escalated technical issues.
  • Share knowledge and documentation with other IT team members to build operational resilience.
  • Collaborate closely with other IT and Faculty members. 


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing enterprise IT systems, service and Network infrastructure. Related Industry certifications are preferred.
  • Strong experience with IT technologies: ADDS, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, File& Printing management, DPM, WSUS, GPO, NPS, LDAP, Network operation and planning concepts such as OSPF, BGP and security.
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms, particularly Hyper-V.
  • Familiar with IT security best practices and IDR systems.
