Position Description:
The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) seeks a full-time faculty member for the College of Pharmacy. This role offers an opportunity to join a dynamic department focused on teaching, research, and innovation. The ideal candidate will support the Dean in academic leadership, administration, strategic planning, and operations while fostering excellence, managing programs, and ensuring student success.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Pharmacy faculty member, preferably a PhD holder, with a strong foundation in Pharmaceutics and the ability to perform administrative duties effectively.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will:
- Contribute to curriculum development and innovation.
- Mentor and advise students on academic and professional growth.
- Engage in scholarly research to advance the field of Pharmaceutics.
Faculty members at AUIS are expected to actively participate in departmental and university- wide initiatives, including:
- Supporting student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Collaborating with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects.
- Representing the department and the Dean at meetings and events.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Oversee departmental operations, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Lead efficiency initiatives to enhance institutional effectiveness.
- Organize mentorship programs, workshops, and performance evaluations.
- Assist in strategic planning by helping to develop and implement long-term goals.
- Build partnerships and support fundraising efforts to strengthen the department’s resources and reputation.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate exhibits the following characteristics:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Pharmaceutics/Industrial Pharmacy or a closely related field from a recognized university.
- Lead efficiency initiatives to enhance institutional effectiveness.
- At least five years of experience in academic leadership or administration, preferably in higher education.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to student engagement and success.
- Experience with curriculum design, development of new courses, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- The ability to integrate cutting-edge research and industry trends into the classroom.
- Proficiency in teaching in English is required.
- Has a pedagogy certificate from a recognized institution.
- Experienced in accreditation processes and university ranking.
