To coordinate the management and development of the digital communications of American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), principally through our website and social media channels. The successful candidate will lead in developing and implementing engagement strategies for the delivery of AUIS digital communications to local, regional and international audiences. This will include demonstrating an understanding of online audiences through analysis and monitoring; coordinating implementation of online campaigns to engage and interact with web audiences to consistently articulate the University’s mission; and raise the standard and frequency of published content in English, Arabic and Kurdish. The successful candidate will work closely with the other departments within the University to assist in procuring quality content, news articles, features and press releases to promote and communicate the University’s overall mission to our audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze data on web and social media traffic, engagement, and effectiveness of implemented strategies.
- Implement and collaborate with team members on design and development of AUIS local language websites, departmental microsite, and other online outreach activities.
- Draft annual strategic digital media planning document to drive implementation of online initiatives.
- Coordinate with web contributors from other departments as well as communications interns and volunteers to procure timely and quality content.
- Build and support SEO strategies and optimized keywords.
- Lead digital media coordination during events on campus, including, Sulaimani Forum, Career Fair, Commencement, University Day, and others.
Advise departments and research centers on best practices for digital media strategies. - Assist the Communications team during major events, campaigns and conferences and complete tasks assigned by the Director of Communications and/or Executive Director of Admissions and Communications, as necessary.
- Work closely with the Admissions department to ensure adequate promotion of recruitment activities.
- Research emerging trends and platforms as well as make recommendations on expanding AUIS’s digital reach to audiences local, national and international.
- Confident on-camera presence, with the ability to represent AUIS in media appearances interviews, speeches, and social media content.
Job Qualifications :
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Kurdish, and Arabic is essential for this job.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity and experience of using popular social media tools, analytics platforms (native and third-party) e.g. Facebook Analytics, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, is required.
- Self-starter, able to work independently; enjoys creating and implementing new digital initiatives.
- Sincere commitment to working collaboratively with all stakeholder groups including faculty, staff, students, alumni, government, and community organizations.
- Strong IT skills, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office etc.
- Basic photography editing skills are required for this job. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop this skill on the job.
- Regular travel to events and meetings across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region may be required for this position.
