B.A. English - Literature
The Bachelor of Arts in English Literature provides students with an opportunity to read and think deeply about a range of literature written in the English language, not just as critics and theoreticians, but also as educators. Not only will students explore and enjoy various texts, they will develop powerful analytical and theoretical tools that can help prepare them for a variety of careers. Moving out from a foundation in the discipline, students will begin to understand English literature and language through electives, guided in their choices by a designated faculty adviser. The program offers an array of elective courses in creative writing, translation, journalism, and drama, as well as literature. Finally, students will write a senior thesis, which may take the form of an investigation of a critical topic or a creative writing project. All theses are approved and directed by a member of the English faculty. English majors can become publishers, copywriters, critics, editors, authors and teachers.
