APP Hosts Groundbreaking Public Speaking Training for Local High School Teachers “The Art of Public Speaking”
The Academic Preparatory Program (APP) Department at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) recently organized a spectacular Teacher Training Program focused on "The Art of Public Speaking." Over 75 teachers from more than 25 high schools in Sulaimani participated in this intensive, high-energy training aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills to effectively train their students in public speaking, debate, and the importance of cultivating confident future public speakers in Iraq.
Building on the success of this training, AUIS will host its inaugural International Public Speaking Event on April 25th. This event will provide a professional and competitive platform for Grade 11 and 12 learners to showcase their English language proficiency and public speaking abilities. The judges' panel will comprise esteemed members from the Italian Consulate, the U.S. State Department Consulate, and the Ministry of Education.
The public speaking competition is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to demonstrate their English language skills and public speaking prowess. However, it also serves as a testament to AUIS's long-standing commitment to community engagement and professional development of English language teachers in the region.
As the anticipation builds for the upcoming International Public Speaking Event, AUIS continues to demonstrate its dedication to academic excellence and community empowerment, shaping the future leaders of Iraq through innovative educational initiatives.
The APP Department would like to recognize the efforts of its esteemed faculty for delivering the training: Matthew Peszek, Michael Jones, Sharol Ozkaya, and Zimkitha Mpatheni – Director.
