The Web & Application Administrator will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and optimization of AUIS’s websites and web applications. The candidate will work closely with the IT department to ensure seamless operations, performance, and security of web-based platforms hosted on various infrastructures, including physical and virtual servers.
Key Responsibilities:
Website & Web Application Administration:
- Manage and maintain multiple websites and web applications running on Linux servers
ensure the availability, reliability, and security of Drupal, Laravel, NestJS, ReactJS, Python3, and other frameworks. - Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
- Maintain PHP environments, including version upgrades, and ensure compatibility with existing web applications.
Server & Infrastructure Management:
- Administer physical and virtual servers running Linux
- Monitor server health and performance, applying necessary updates and patches.
- Work with cloud-hosted websites and hybrid on-prem/cloud environments.
Security & Compliance:
- Implement best security practices, including server firewalls, SSL certificates, and server hardening.
- Regularly perform security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure backup and disaster recovery plans are in place and regularly tested.
Development & Troubleshooting:
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure web applications meet institutional needs.
- Debug and resolve Drupal, Laravel, and PHP application errors.
- Implement enhancements, updates, and patches to web applications.
Collaboration & Support:
- Implement best security practices, including server firewalls, SSL certificates, and server hardening.
- Provide documentation and training on website and application use.
- Support LMS (Learning Management System) and legacy systems.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate exhibits the following characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing websites and web applications in a Linux-based environment.
- Proficiency in Drupal , Laravel, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience with Linux Server administration and web server configurations (Apache/Nginx).
- Strong knowledge of security best practices in web hosting and application development.
- Familiarity with cloud hosting and virtualization technologies.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and version control.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with mobile application management (Flutter, Firebase FCM). Knowledge of Linux.
- Familiarity with NestJS, ReactJS, and Python3 applications.
- Prior experience in higher education IT environments.
