Position Type: Full-Time – Short Term
Location required: Sulaymaniyah – AUIS Campus 
Hourly Work: 30 hrs/Week 
Reports To: Executive Director

The Research Fellow, Environment & Climate Change will support research activities related to IRIS research Program. This role involves conducting literature reviews, data collection and analysis, and assisting with the preparation of research reports and presentations. The ideal candidate will have strong research skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a research team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research Support:
    • Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings to support ongoing research projects. Assist in designing and implementing research methodologies and data collection strategies. Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using various research tools and techniques.
  2. Data Management:
    • Organize and manage research data, ensuring accuracy and integrity. Perform statistical analysis and interpret results to support research objectives.
  3. Report Preparation:
    • Assist in drafting and editing research reports, papers, and presentations.
  4. Administrative Tasks:
    • Coordinate with team members and assist in scheduling meetings and organizing research activities.
    • Maintain research databases and documentation.
  5. Project Coordination:
    • Support project planning and execution, including tracking progress and meeting deadlines. Assist in preparing grant applications and project proposals as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Studies, or a related field preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • Previous experience in a research role or academic setting is preferred.
    • Familiarity with research methodologies and data analysis techniques.
  3. Skills:
    • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  4. Preferred Qualifications: 
    • Experience with qualitative research methods.
    • Multilingual abilities, especially in English, and Arabic.
  5. Working Conditions: 
    • Typical office environment with possible fieldwork or travel depending on the project.
    • Ability to work flexible hours as required by project deadlines.
