Strengthening Global Partnerships: AUIS Hosts Final Conference of the DAAD-Funded DJISSER Project

The American University of Sulaimani (AUIS) successfully hosted the three-day closing conference of the DAAD-funded Developing Jordanian and Iraqi Support Systems in Entrepreneurship Resources (DJISSER) Project, marking the culmination of 2.5 years of collaboration with Saarland University in Germany and Hashemite University in Jordan.

The conference featured parallel panels, roundtable discussions, and interactive sessions, where participants shared key insights, reflected on achievements, and developed strategies to sustain professional networks and collaborative initiatives. This event served as both a celebration of progress and a forward-looking dialogue on the future of entrepreneurship and academic partnerships.

A key legacy of DJISSER is the establishment of 14 Entrepreneurship Fellows from AUIS students, staff, and faculty. These fellows now provide ongoing support to the AUIS community, offering guidance to students, staff, and faculty on developing and advancing their business ideas, ensuring the entrepreneurial momentum generated by DJISSER continues on campus.

Through the project’s success and the Fellows program, AUIS demonstrates its commitment to cultivating entrepreneurial skills, promoting global engagement, and driving educational excellence. The DJISSER initiative has played a vital role in advancing entrepreneurship education and fostering cross-border learning opportunities, equipping students with the critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation skills essential for the modern global economy.
