AUIS Hosts First English Public Speaking Competition in Kirkuk
On 1 February, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) proudly organized its first English Public Speaking Competition in Kirkuk, hosted at Altabiea School, with the participation of more than 40 students from local schools. This milestone event reflects AUIS’s ongoing commitment to promoting academic excellence, youth engagement, and English language proficiency across the region.
The competition aimed to strengthen students’ confidence, communication abilities, and leadership skills through English public speaking. Participants demonstrated impressive passion, creativity, and critical thinking as they took the stage to express their ideas, showcasing the power of young voices and the importance of effective communication in shaping future leaders.
At the conclusion of the event, the top three winners were selected to advance to the final round, which will take place on 5 February at the AUIS campus. There, they will compete alongside winners from other rounds in a celebratory finale that highlights talent, ambition, and excellence in public speaking. AUIS is proud to support such initiatives that inspire students and create opportunities for growth beyond the classroom.
